Super System II

The first Super System, written and edited by Doyle Brunson, two-time World Series of Poker Champion and nine-time WSOP Gold Bracelet winner, is often hailed as the most influential book ever written about the game of poker.

After much hype and release date postponement, Brunson’s second book, Super System II, pushes the envelope even further, expanding on the original with new games, new strategies, and new experts.

Do not mistake this book as a rehashing of the old; Super System II paves its own path with an all-star cast of collaborators: Daniel Negreanu, winner of multiple WSOP gold bracelets and 2004 Poker Player of the Year; Lyle Berman, three-time WSOP gold bracelet winner, founder of the World Poker Tour, and super-high stakes cash player; Bobby Baldwin, 1978 World Poker Champion and president of Bellagio; Johnny Chan, two-time World Poker Champion and nine-time WSOP Gold Bracelet winner; Mike Caro, poker’s greatest researcher, theorist, and instructor; Jennifer Harman, the best female player in the history of poker and one of the ten best overall; Todd Brunson, winner of more than twenty tournaments; and Crandell Addington, a no-limit Hold ’em legend.

Super System II covers the essential strategies and advanced play on the most popular games played today: Hold ’em (limit and no-limit), Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Eight or Better, High-Low Split, No Limit Omaha, Omaha 8 or Better, Limit Lowball Draw, High Draw Poker, Chinese Poker, Triple Draw Lowball, as well as important sections on professional play and player psychology.

Some readers may complain that the book lacks sufficient Hold ’em strategy coverage. This aspect of the book is arguably one of its strengths; Hold ’em is a game that is written about often, making books on other games difficult to find. To cover Triple Draw in print is a valuable rarity. To its credit, this book is marketed more towards seasoned players with aspirations for WSOP glory.
